These three pages on the Norway Reunion and the image galleries have been added Oct 1 2024. They will be revised when I receive further material and at that time I will revise the front page of the site.
– If you just want to see the images that were taken and have been submitted for sharing go to this page.
– If you want to see what was originally planned go to this page
– if you want to link to the publication that Cesilie has created about what actually happen go to this page
This was the first reunion in many years that I have not made it to so it is rather difficult for me to write these pages in a meaningful manner. Why did I not go? I was on the other side of the planet at the time, in Melbourne Australia. I sympathize with out fellow students who live so far away from where most of our reunions have taken part. All I can do is encourage you to try and take part. Although a subset of our year, we are getting fewer in number and when we do gather for these occasions we inevitably have a wonderful time.
in December 2023 we recieved the following letter that was the original ‘heads up’ for this possible reunion:
And I replied shortly after that with:
Trip to Norway June 2024
We are actually in the process of planning a AC-trip to Norway this coming summer, as many of you requested. It will have to be a week around June 15, 2024. By then it will be summer temperatures, most of the snow will be gone in the mountains and the evenings will be bright (and the midnight sun in the north – if we reach that far). We are working to keep the cost down.
Some people probably think it’s too often to have an AC trip offered every year.Others of us would like to be together more often before we get knee injuries and sore backs and hips and become too old and grumpy and less mobile and nice to be with.
Some trips in these AC alumni-tours have been accessible to everyone in terms of transport and easy walks..Other trips require more movement and endurance. Some trips have been in hot climates.
A trip to Norway can be cold. And you must prepare for some walking in part of the program. But oh, how lovely in many other ways!
We will write some more details at the latest the first week of January, also to get an idea of what kind of trip you would prefer: North or south. You will all get a new e-mail with a map.
Best wishes for Christmas and all types of markings this time of the year!
On behalf of Henriette, Vera, Ditte, Olaf, Jan-Olav and myself,Hello Cesile: So glad that a reunion is being considered for Norway – While I have been in Denmark, Sweden and Finland I have missed your wonderful country in my travels. Really looking forware to it, hopefully with Chris. I do have a commitment in Umbria June 23rd but if you are considering the 15th that should be OK. I am sure you have plenty of ideas where to take us but I thought I would forward what the NYT has to say about Oslo and Bergen.
The articles I referred to are in The New York Times and I have created pdf’s of them here in case you cannot see them directly (If you click on the page image below you will be taken to the NYT site, but unless a subscriber will not get very far)

36 Hours in Bergen, Norway – 36 Hours in Oslo – 36 Hours in Oslo 2 –
If you find those interesting there is also a book published called
The New York Times ’36 Hours Europe’ by Taschen
Needless to say, that got a response from Cesilie, which I answered and led to this outline that was forward to you.
